The shoes show the colours produced by the oxidisation process of the copper heels from virgin pink to oranges, reds, purples, blues and greens

Walking along the seafront to my studio in Brighton I can see how the sea and the wind and the sun has weathered everything: the paint peeling off the multi-coloured beach-huts, the corrosion of the collapsed and disused West Pier, the sun bleaching the seafront signs.

I saw some discoloured copper piping on a building. To many that would look unkempt but to me the verdigris was potentially beautiful. I could see the iridescent pinks, oranges and reds combining with brassy yellows, blues, greens and purples on my shoes. The natural beauty in the ageing process of copper could be the unique key to my new collection.

My shoes could really change with the seasons and the years.
